New Dental Product: CS 8100SC Panoramic and Cephalometric Unit from Carestream Dental

New Dental Product: CS 8100SC Panoramic and Cephalometric Unit from Carestream Dental

Carestream Dental recently introduced the CS 8100SC panoramic and cephalometric imaging system, a unit that allows general dentists to perform a wider range of diagnoses and treatments.

This new unit is part of the company’s CS 8100 family of imaging systems, according to a press release, and features the same design concept as the CS 8100. The unit is 72.5 inches, and reportedly is one of the most compact cephalometric units on the market.

The CS 8100SC comes with two sensors—one for panoramic and one for cephalometric imaging. There is no need to change the sensors between exams, which helps reduce the risk of damaging the unit. Panoramic programs include adult and pediatric images, segmented panoramic, TMJ, maxillary sinus and the new segmented bitewing. Clinicians can choose from a variety of views during cephalometric exams, as well as up to three cephalometric image sizes: 26 x 24 cm, 18 x 24 cm and 18 x 18 cm.

The imaging system can complete a cephalometric exam in as little as 3 seconds (For 18 x 24 cm images in fast scan mode), enabling doctors to perform safer exams with shorter exposure times. This reduces the radiation dose, while also decreasing the risk of motion blur in the images. Exclusive Carestream Dental imaging software recognizes anatomical structures and traces them automatically, saving time.

The unit also features the new CS Adapt module, a feature that allows clinicians to customize an image’s look and feel. Image contract and sharpness can be enhanced using artifact-free filters, for example, while three orthodontic pre-set filters optimize the visualization of hard and soft tissues.

Dentists who already own the CS 8100 can upgrade to the CS 8100SC.
