Created to provide efficiency during hygiene appointments, the iStar Cordless Prophylaxis Handpiece from DentalEZ is completely cordless allowing clinicians full freedom of movement.
Compatible with all disposable prophy angles, the handpiece is lightweight and balanced to provide comfort for clinicians and easy access to all areas of the mouth, according to a press release. The handpiece is operated via buttons on the unit itself, eliminating the need for a foot pedal.
A maximum torque of 2.0 Ncm provides power comparable to air-driven prophy handpieces with 5 speed settings between 500 and 2,500 rotations per minute. The iStar is designed for stable rotation for patient and clinician comfort. The charging base can be easily stored and the handpiece can provide three hours of continual use on a charge. It comes with an 18-month warranty.
Update: DentalEZ is temporarily suspending the launch of the new StarDental iStar Cordless Prophylaxis Handpiece in order to allow the company time to evaluate the impact of the March 2015 FDA guidance on the “Reprocessing of Medical Devices in Healthcare Settings”. This change in plans is being made to allow the company to ensure that every product it delivers to dental professionals meets the stringent quality standards customers have come to know and trust.
