2015 Edison Awards Honors Dental Product Innovations

Some of the most groundbreaking dental products to hit the industry recently were honored with 2015 Edison Awards which annually celebrates innovative products and services from a range of industries.

Named after famed inventor Thomas Edison, the Edison Awards were created to honor new product development with the focus being placed on the people behind the innovations as much as the products and services they create. The awards are judged by a panel of more than 3,000 business executives, past award winners, academics and leaders in their fields. Dental product categories were added for the first time in 2015.

The dental product winners were spread across three categories that also included some medical products. In the Dental X-ray and Laser Tools category, the Gold Award went to the Solea Dental Laser from Convergent Dental, with the NOMAD Pro 2 Handheld X-ray from Aribex taking the Silver Award and Vatech’s Green CT taking the Bronze Award. In the Dental 3D Printers and Services Category, the Silver Award went to the 3M True Definition Scanner from 3M ESPE with Carestream Dental’s CS 3500 taking the Bronze. In the Dental and ENT Surgical Tools Category, NSK’s Ti-Max Z45L handpiece was awarded the Gold while Kerr Endodontics’ elementsfree obturation system claimed the Bronze.
