Designed to allow the Solea Dental Laser to access the periodontal pocket and other difficult to reach areas of the oral cavity, the new Ultraguide handpiece and 15/400 hollow waveguide work with a new automatic alignment system.
The new handpiece works with the CO2 9.3 micron laser system allowing the center point of the laser’s 0.25 mm beam to be precisely positioned through the exact center of the 400 micron inner diameter of the 15 mm long waveguide, according to a press release. The 15/400 Waveguide is the first in a series of waveguides for the Solea laser system that will feature different lengths and widths.
Created to expand the capabilities and applications of the laser, the Ultraguide handpiece is compatible with existing Solea laser systems.

Convergent Dental’s New Ultraguide Handpiece and 15/400 Hollow Waveguide Enables Solea Users to Operate More Effectively in the Periodontal Pocket
Atlanta — Convergent Dental Inc., a privately held dental equipment and technology company, today unveiled its new Ultraguide handpiece, along with the 15/400 hollow waveguide and automatic alignment system for Solea, the first FDA approved, CO2 9.3 micron dental laser for hard and soft tissue. The new Ultraguide is a precision-engineered handpiece and the 15/400 hollow waveguide is specifically designed for access to the periodontal pocket and other hard to reach areas in the oral cavity. The 15/400 hollow waveguide gets its name from its dimensions which are a length of 15 millimeters and an inner diameter of 400 microns. The Ultraguide will be delivered with the industry’s first automatic alignment system which will detect the center point of the laser’s 0.25 mm beam and communicate wirelessly with Solea to precisely position it through the exact center of the hollow waveguide’s opening.
The 15/400 is the first in a family of hollow waveguides of various lengths and widths to be released over the coming months from Convergent Dental, all of which will be compatible with the new Ultraguide handpiece.
