Created to help patients better visualize removable prosthetics, VITA ToothConfigurator software from VITA North America allows clinicians and patients to review how a proposed denture will look via computer simulation.
The software allows the doctor to create the virtual dentures with VITA anterior and posterior tooth lines in both the VITA Classical and 3D-MASTER shades, as well as two bleach shades, according to a press release. ToothConfigurator uses a photo of the patient and allows the dentist to select the anterior and posterior moulds that best fit the patient’s needs. The simulated prosthesis can be adjusted as needed until the doctor and patient are pleased with the onscreen look.

VITA OFFERS NEW TOOTH CONFIGURATOR SOFTWARE
PATIENTS PARTICIPATE IN INDIVIDUAL RESTORATION PLANNING
The decision to get a denture can be a difficult one, and is often coupled with misgivings over how the teeth will fit and look. The new VITA ToothConfigurator software helps allay some of those fears by allowing the patient to be involved in the planning of their own dental restoration from the start. With the new VITA ToothConfigurator software, patients can view how the finished prosthesis will look right on the computer screen.
To start, the dentist is able to access a digital tooth library with the VITA anterior and posterior tooth lines, which can be designed virtually in the VITA Classical and 3D-MASTER shades, as well as in two bleached shades. With the assistance of the software, and based on a photo of the patient, the dentist works with the patient to select the anterior and posterior moulds most suited to their individual needs. The dentist then compiles a realistic computer simulation of the prosthesis that can be altered and adjusted as needed, working with the patient on how the restoration will ultimately look. The collaboration between the dentist and patient also helps ensure an ideal aesthetic solution and restoration that will completely satisfy the patient.
