Convergent Dental’s Solea Laser Makes Popular Science’s Best of What’s New for 2014

Convergent Dental’s Solea CO2 dental laser was named one of the top 100 technology innovations of 2014 by Popular Science.

The hard and soft tissue dental laser was included in the publication’s annual “Best of What’s New” list which honors breakthrough technologies and products in a range of technology categories. Solea was the only dental product to make the 2014 list, receiving its award in the health category. The awards are presented annually to products with the potential to change what the future will look like, according to a press release.

The publication praised the way Solea can be used for a wide range of dental procedures without pain, bleeding, discomforting noises, and in most cases, without the need for anesthesia. Convergent reports that 95 percent of procedures done with the Solea laser are done with no anesthesia or bleeding. In the press release Convergent Dental CEO Michael Cataldo said one of the goals with Solea is to help alleviate patients’ fears of visiting the dentist.
