Boston University Teams With Sirona to Create All-Digital Dental School

A partnership between Sirona Dental Systems and Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine will allow the school to provide students with an education based around an all-digital clinical workflow.

The school recently purchased completely digital equipment for both operatories and dental labs from Sirona which will make it the country’s first all-digital dental school. The school’s treatment centers will be equipped with CEREC CAD/CAM systems, Schick digital sensors, GALILEOS cone beam imaging systems and inLab CAD/CAM systems, according to a press release.

The all-digital move by the school was taken after a task force examined the concept and determined what it would take for the school to invest in the technology necessary to make the transition. Sirona was chosen as the school’s partner because it was able to provide the completely integrated digital product lines as well as support for the program.

At a recent press conference announcing the new all-digital dental education at Boston University, officials from both Sirona and the school said the move will help prepare dentists who graduate from the school to be leaders in the rapidly digitizing dental industry.
