At the American Association of Endodontists Annual Session in Maryland, Carestream Dental introduced a pair of new digital imaging systems with the launch of the CS 8100 3D cone beam system and the RVG 6200 intraoral sensor. Both new imaging systems are designed to provide clinicians with more options and enhance dental practice efficiency, according to a press release.
Building on the company’s CS 8100 digital panoramic platform, the new CS 8100 3D adds 3D cone beam imaging along with impression scanning to a unit with the same small footprint. The CS 8100 3D captures 3D anatomies with 1:1 accuracy and provides clinicians with control over image size, resolution and radiation dose. The EndoHD mode scans a 5 x 5 cm field of view with an accuracy of 75 µm.
The unit is designed to make patient positioning simple, and features motorized height adjustment and can even scan patients in wheelchairs. Images can be shared in a variety of ways, and the system’s image viewer software can be shared with colleagues and referring dentists with no additional fees.
The RVG 6200 digital x-ray sensor is designed to make it easy to capture high-definition intraoral radiographs, and features an integrated dose indicator that alerts clinicians if too much or too little radiation is hitting the sensor. Once images are captured, the included software features contrast and sharpness optimizing filters to enhance diagnosis for different types of cases.
Improving on the RVG 6100 model, the 6200 does not include an on/off button on the cord, and is simply always on and ready to capture an image. Designed for durability, the RVG 6200 housing is shock resistant, and waterproof for easy disinfection. The sensor cable is 20 percent thinner than previous models and plugs directly into computers via a standard USB connection.
