Designed for use in both dental practices and dental labs, ShadeWave Dental Shade Matching System is a cloud-based, open architecture software platform that automates shade matching.
The ShadeWave system works without the need for shade tabs. Instead, a digital image is taken of the patient’s teeth alongside a specially calibrated ShadeTarget which is used as a reference when the image is uploaded for ShadeWave automatic shade, translucency and value determination, according to information on the company’s website.
Shade assessments can be sent back and forth between clinics and labs using the ShadeWave system via a HIPAA-compliant online file exchange. The shade determinations from the software can be used to select the appropriate porcelains or CAD/CAM blocks for any dental restoration.
