During the American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session Carestream Dental introduced an updated CS 9300 2D/3D extraoral imaging system with low dose imaging as well as CS Model, a digital design software platform for creating orthodontic appliances.
Capable of capturing 2D panoramic, 3D cone beam and one shot cephalometric images in just more than one second, the updated CS 9300 uses its Fast Scan feature to reduce the radiation exposure to patients, according to a press release. The imaging system also provides 5 fields of view ranging from 5 x 5 cm to 17 x 13.5 cm along with 2D panoramic imaging with variable focal trough technology.
The new Fast Scan feature will be available to current CS 9300 owners as an upgrade.
CS Model software is an extension of Carestream’s CS Solutions dental CAD/CAM platform. It allows clinicians to create digital orthodontic models from digital impression scans. The models can be sent to an orthodontic lab for appliance design while also saving time, reducing storage needs and making orthodontic treatment more efficient. The software automatically captures basic distance measurements to assist with diagnoses.
