New Dental Product: SICAT Function Craniomandibular Dysfunction Software from Sirona

Designed to help clinicians diagnose and plan treatment for patients suffering from craniomandibular dysfunctions, SICAT Function software from Sirona combines data from a Galileos cone beam scan, a CEREC digital impression and use of the new SICAT JMT+ Jaw Motion Tracker to create a digital 3D model with patient specific anatomy and lower jaw movement.

SICAT JMT+ Hardware

Created to make it simpler and more efficient to diagnose craniomandibular dysfunctions, SICAT Function is designed to merge the three distinct data sets into a single, functional digital model, according to a press release. The SICAT JMT+ records all degrees of freedom and lower jaw movements, and using radiopaque reference markers, the software merges this data with the other 3D digital data sets.

These 3D models help clinicians determine the spatial relationship between the condyle and fossa during movements, and dynamic occlusions can be reproduced for any jaw position. With a complete patient-specific 3D model, the SICAT Function software allows data capture, diagnosis, treatment planning and case presentation to occur in a single appointment. Data from the software can be sent to SICAT for the production of a Michigan treatment appliance.
