New Dental Products: DEXIS photo and DEXIS mac Imaging Software Applications

DEXIS introduced a pair of forthcoming dental digital imaging software applications during the recent 2013 Greater New York Dental Meeting.

DEXIS photo, an iPhone app that will launch later this month, is designed to integrate smartphones into the digital dental imaging workflow. DEXIS mac, a version of the DEXIS Imaging Suite designed to run on Apple computers and the OS X operating system, will be available during the first half of 2014, according to a pair of press releases.

DEXIS photo is designed to make it simple for clinicians to wirelessly add images to a patient record in the DEXIS Imaging Suite using an iPhone or iPod Touch. The app functions in two ways with the ability use an iPhone or iPod Touch to shoot patient photo IDs to accompany their record as well extraoral smile images. The images are instantly saved into the patient’s record in the Imaging Suite software, and because they are never stored on the smartphone, the app is fully HIPAA compliant.

Designed to provide clinicians using Apple’s Mac computers in their practices with a native imaging application, DEXIS mac will bring the capabilities of the company’s award winning Imaging Suite software to the OS X operating system. DEXIS mac will provide seamless imaging integration with both Viive and MacPractice dental practice management applications.

The software combines a Mac-friendly, intuitive user interface with the imaging capabilities of the PC-based Imaging Suite. When it launches in the spring, DEXIS mac will include integration with both the new DEXIS photo iPhone app as well as the DEXIS go iPad app which launched earlier this year.
