Carestream Dental’s CS Solutions CAD/CAM System is Now Available

After first announcing the system last spring at the International Dental Show, Carestream Dental officially launched sales of its CS Solutions chairside CAD/CAM system at the American Dental Association Annual Session this past weekend.

Designed to allow dental practices to scan, design, mill and place a restoration in a single appointment, CS Solutions consists of the CS 3500 intraoral scanner or CBCT impression scanning with the CS 9000 or CS 9300 dental cone beam systems; restoration design with CS Restore software; and milling with the CS 3000 mill. Additionally the CS Connect portal is designed to allow practices to digitally work with a dental lab for any part of the process.

The CS Solutions system was created with the concept of helping clinicians add chairside CAD/CAM with minimal training while providing options for the digital workflow each practice will use, according to a press release. Practices can adopt the entire system or add one or more of the individual products to create a custom digital dental workflow.

The CS 3500 scanner can capture true color 2D and 3D images with a precision or 30 µm. A light guidance system allows clinicians to watch the patient’s mouth and not a screen while scanning, and a heater in the tip prevents fogging. The scanner connects to a desktop or laptop computer via USB. Alternately a practice can choose to scan physical impressions using either the CS 9000 or CS 9300 cone beam systems.

CS Restore software was designed to make it possible for clinicians to design a crown, inlay or onlay with just a few clicks of the mouse. These designs can either be sent to a dental lab via the CS Connect portal or to the CS 3000 mill which features a 4-axis brushless motor for chairside fabrication of crowns in less than 15 minutes.
