OSAP Makes Hepatitis C Toolkit Available to Entire Dental Industry

Previously a members-only resource, the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) has made its Hepatitis C Prevention Toolkit available to the entire dental industry in the wake of the first documented case of patient-to-patient hepatitis C transmission in a dental setting.

The incident happened at an oral surgery clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma where infection control practices were found to be substandard and numerous patients were exposed to possible illness, with at least one confirmed case of Hepatitis C transmission.

The free, downloadable toolkit features regulations, guidelines, best practices, instructional materials and information for patients, according to a press release. The toolkit also includes videos in English and Spanish, fact sheets, online training and more resources. The materials can be accessed at www.osap.org/?page=Issues_HepC.
