Dental Caries Detection With The Canary System Stands Out in a Pair of Studies

Quantum Dental Technologies, maker of The Canary System dental caries detection device, recently announced the results of two studies showing the efficacy of the company’s technology.

In the first study The Canary System, the DIAGNOdent and visual ranking with the ICDAS II system were used to determine the depth of a carious lesion. The depth was verified using polarized light microscopy, and The Canary System was found to produce more accurate numbers. The ability to accurately measure lesion depth is attributed to The Canary System’s ability to measure changes in crystal tooth structure, according to a press release.

In the second study The Canary System and the DIAGNOdent were used to detect caries around intact margins of ceramic dental crowns. In this study, the Canary System was again shown to be more effective than competing caries detection technologies.
