New Dental Product: Phocal Fluoride Disks from Colldent

Phocal Fluoride Disks from Colldent are designed to provide dental professionals with a new tool in the fight against interproximal caries.

These thin, round disks are inserted between teeth and deliver concentrated fluoride to these difficult to access areas, according to a press release. The discs are designed for use when interproximal caries is suspected or detected and can provide more effective interproximal fluoride uptake than rinses or gels.

Two types of Phocal disks are available. Phocal Apf (acidulated phosphate fluoride) disks contain 0.103 mg of sodium fluoride and .009 mg of hydrogen fluoride. Phocal pHn (non-acidic sodium fluoride) disks are suited to patients with ceramic crowns or tooth-colored restorations. They contain 0.122 mg sodium fluoride and are less acidic in order to prevent etching into ceramic crowns or restorations.
