New Dental Products: DENTSPLY Debuts CELTRA Glass Ceramic and Crypton Cobalt Chrome Alloy CAD/CAM Materials at IDS

DENTSPLY showed off a pair of new CAD/CAM materials at the International Dental Show—CELTRA, a zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate material, and Crypton, a cobalt chrome alloy, will be available for milling on the CEREC MC XL later this spring.

With zirconia atomically dissolved into a lithium silicate glass matrix, CELTRA provides high flexural strength but still allows esthetic shading effects, according to a press release.

The material will be available in a millable CAD block format as well as in a pressable format. CELTRA is designed to mill and crystallize quickly to speed up processing times for CAD/CAM restorations.

Designed to allow dental labs to process cobalt chrome frameworks in-house, Crypton is a non-precious sinter metal material that is milled at a size 10 percent larger than the final restoration framework and then sintered in a special oven that can also process zirconia, according to a press release.

The Crypton material will be available in four different block sizes and can be used to fabricate frameworks for bridges of up to four units. The frameworks can be veneered with non-precious porcelains such as DENTSPLY’s Ceramco iC.
