New Dental Products: VITA Announces SUPRINITY Zirconia Reinforced Lithium Silicate CAD/CAM Material, Easyshade Advance 4.0 and AKZENT Plus Stains at IDS

With the dental world watching, VITA used the 2013 International Dental Show as a platform to announce a number of new product innovations including SUPRINITY, a zirconia reinforced lithium silicate, the Easyshade Advance 4.0 digital shade system and the AKZENT Plus line of stains.

Described as a new generation of glass ceramic materials, SUPRINITY was developed via a collaboration with Degudent GmbH and the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC. The zirconia reinforced lithium silicate ceramic (ZLS) contains 10 times the zirconia of traditional CAD/CAM glass ceramics in a fine-grained, homogeneous structure to provide high strength for a variety of clinical applications, according to a press release.

The material is easy to rework after milling and polishes nicely, providing natural translucency, fluorescence and opalescence. Suitable for anterior and posterior crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays, the material is being launched this Fall in blocks designed for use in the CEREC MC XL mill in shades 0M1, A1, A2, A3.5, B2, C2 and D2 in two translucencies.

The Easyshade Advance 4.0, the fourth generation of VITA’s digital shade matching system, is designed to make shade matching easier and more reliable, according to a press release. It features automatic activation, Bluetooth connectivity to VITA software on operatory computers, and shade results are displayed in both international shade standards – VITA classical A1-D4 and VITA SYSTEM 3DMASTER.

Designed to replace the original AKZENT stains, as well as VITA SHADIN PASTE, AKZENT Plus stains are an integrated system for a broader range of indications. A system of glazing and masking stains and glazing agents, AKZENT plus works with a range of materials and approaches to processing, according to a press release.

Available in six shades as a paste, a powder, and as a spray, the translucent Body Stains can be used for surface staining and internal coloring. The fine-grained, fluorescent Effect Stains can be used for applying surface effects and are available in 13 shades as a paste and as a powder. The Finishing Agent is designed to seal microporosities and increase biocompatibility in the subgingival area, and is available as a powder and as a paste. VITA AKZENT Plus Glaze is for uniform surfaces and is available as a powder, a paste, and as a spray, as well as in a low-melting point formulation for use with low-firing ceramics.
