 Nobel Biocare Announces New Foundation, New Lab Scanner, 3Shape Partnership and Much More at IDS

Nobel Biocare used the 2013 International Dental Show as  platform to announce a range of new initiatives and forthcoming product updates including the endowment of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR), the upcoming launch of the NobelProcera 2G Scanner and a new partnership with 3Shape.

The new FOR will be an international initiative to promote oral health and improve patient care through scholarship and humanitarian efforts, according to a press release. The FOR will officially be launched at the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium in New York in June and will be organized into three sections: FOR Education, FOR Science and FOR Humanity.

In product news, Nobel Biocare previewed the new NobelProcera 2G Scanner which will feature a similar look as its predecessor but offer a range of improved features designed to increase lab productivity. Also coming later this year, 3Shape users will be able to send cases to Nobel Biocare for the fabrication of NobelProcera Abutments in zirconia and titanium using their current 3Shape scanning and design workflow.

Updates to the NobelClinician implant treatment planning software are designed to improve diagnostics from 3D CBCT images, as well as to provide the ability to import 2D images for visualization alongside 3D scans. Another new feature of the software is the NobelClinician Communicator iPad app which allows clinicians to use an iPad to share dynamic treatment plan presentations with their patients.

Nobel Biocare also announced expansions of the NobelReplace Conical Connection and Replace Select implant lines with new partially machined 0.75 mm collar options for both implants. Updates to the iPad-controlled OsseoCare Pro drill motor include customizable programs, new handpiece options and a new note taking feature. Updates to the NobelProcera Abutment product line include the addition of the Biomet 31, Zimmer and Camlog implant platforms the list of 3rd party implants that can be paired with Nobel Biocare’s custom abutments. Additionally, in-lab scanning of NobelProcera Implant Overdenture Bars is now available for Straumann implant platforms.
