Brasseler USA Touts Research Backing the Effectiveness of its EndoSequence BC Sealer

According to the results of a series of published studies, Brasseler USA’s EndoSequence BC Sealer provides enhanced bond strength, better sealing capabilities and augments the patient’s healing process following root canal therapy.

Part of Brasseler’s EndoSequence endodontic obturation system, BC Sealer incorporates bioceramic nanotechnology and uses the naturally present moisture in dentinal tubules to initiate its setting reaction where it forms hydroxyapatite and chemically bonds to both dentin and filling material points, according to a press release that showcased the results of five published studies highlighting different benefits of the material.

In one study, the bond strength of BC Sealer and other endodontic sealers were compared at different moisture levels and BC Sealer created the strongest bonds in every test. Another study showed that when used with Brasseler’s impregnated and coated cones, BC Sealer increased the fracture resistance of a treated tooth to the level of an untreated tooth.

The third study being promoted by Brasseler highlighted the biocompatibility of BC Sealer, while the fourth study showed that the material’s small particle size leads to substantially lower contact angles, thus strengthening its bond to dentin. In the final study being highlighted by Brasseler, BC Sealer’s highly alkaline nature was tested and the material was shown to kill the potentially fatal Enterococcus faecalis bacterium within 2 minutes of contact.
