New Dental Product: Obsidian Lithium Silicate Ceramic Crowns from Glidewell Laboratories

New Dental Product: Obsidian Lithium Silicate Ceramic Crowns from Glidewell Laboratories

Designed for use in monolithic, full-contour crowns, 3-unit anterior bridges, veneers, inlays and onlays, Glidewell Laboratories’ new Obsidian Lithium Silicate Ceramic is a glass ceramic with a flexural strength of 373 MPa.

The Obsidian material exceeds ISO strength requirements for cemented all-ceramic restorations, and it can be used anywhere in the mouth. The material can be seated on a traditional all-ceramic prep and either cemented or adhesively bonded, according to a press release.

The Obsidian restorations are produced via CAD/CAM technology and available in all VITA Classical and Bleached shades. They are priced at $99 per unit, or $79 per unit for model-free cases submitted via digital impression scan.
