Dugoni School of Dentistry Goes Mobile, Announces Launch of Official School App
University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry's Information Technology department recently announced the launch of a free mobile application designed to help students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and prospective students easily access information about the dental school.
The app is now available in the iOS App Store and the Android Market. Featured content includes school news, event listings, directory, campus map, wallpaper photos, school references and helpful links, videos, live Twitter feed, admissions checklist and alumni resources.
Recognizing the importance of using new technologies to share information, the Dugoni School conducted a survey of students, faculty and staff in the spring of 2012 to gauge interest in a school mobile app, as well as preferred features and content. Building on feedback from the school community, the school sought the help of Straxis Technology to assist in designing the app and fine-tuning its many features.
The app was officially released in October 2012 after several months of development. The project is the result of close collaboration among numerous school departments, including Information Technology, Marketing and Communications, Human Resources, Design and Photo, Admissions and Alumni.
"The launch of this mobile app speaks to Pacific Dugoni's willingness to adopt new technologies and methods of communication in the spirit of innovation, one of our core values," said Dean Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr. "I am proud of the efforts that went into making this app a reality and am confident it will be a useful tool for the entire school family."
