Implant Case Study: 3i Osseotite

Implant Case Study: 3i Osseotite

Case Background
This patient first presented with a chief complaint of a bridge not fitting correctly. She was extremely unhappy with the bite, or the esthetics, and felt she looked like she had horse teeth. The bridge was fabricated with so much overjet that she could not actually close her lips together without straining. There was also leakage on both abutments.

Case Treatment
Diagnostic cast impressions were taken, and the case mounted on an articulator. A diagnostic waxup was done and splint made for the provisional bridge. The existing bridge was removed, and the new provisional was placed. The patient was monitored for function and esthetics. Using the position of the provisionals, a surgical stent was created, and three 3i Osseotite implants were placed. Following healing, custom abutments were fabricated, and a new bridge placed. Single unit crowns were placed on the old abutments of #6 and 11.
