Case Study: Simplified Osseous Crown Lengthening with Biolase's Waterlase MD

Case Background

Patient complains “teeth too short”, smile “too gummy.” Enamel lengths fine for osseous crown lengthening, removing gum/shaping bone to conserve biologic width.

Case Treatment

Presented conventional options - referral to perio for scalpel & suture gum surgery vs. in-office laser treatment. Patient reacts positively to laser treatment, staying in-office for procedure, avoiding 6-8 weeks of “ugly”, uncomfortable healing. Procedure completed in about 10min./tooth. Now performing the same procedure on 7-8 patients/month.

Gingivectomy with the Waterlase MD

Correction of osseous crest position

Post Op

Procedure performed with no bleeding. Patients reports little post-op pain. Two weeks post-op patient completely healed, thrilled with her new smile!
