Patient presents with failing composite on buccal surface of tooth #5. Recurrent subgingival decay.
Case Treatment
Referral to periodontist and wait 6-8 weeks for healing before returning for restoration, or use Waterlase MD™ to complete the gingivectomy and restoration in one visit. Patient doesn’t want to make an additional trip to the periodontist and elects in-office Waterlase laser treatment.
Post Op
Gingivectomy completed with only topical anesthetic to ensure acceptable gingival margin. Restoration completed immediately after without anesthetic. Minimal bleeding during gingivectomy. Two procedures completed in same amount of time as one – no loss of production through referral. $200 extra income by performing gingivectomy in-house.
