Dental stain and glaze systems are used to provide a finished luster to dental restorations. These materials are applied to crowns, bridges, veneers and other restorations to bring out a lifelike shine and finish. Often clear liquids that are brushed on the restoration, many stains and glazes must be fired at specific temperatures to take full effect. Some stains are in a paste format, but the general application process is the same. These materials can be used in a dental laboratory or chairside to put the finishing touches on CAD/CAM restorations. When selecting a stain or glaze system, be sure the material is suitable for use with the restoration material, and that you follow the protocols to achieve lasting, highly esthetic results.
