Dental curing lights are a critical component in any dental practice. Since resin composites were introduced, a curing light has been needed to harden the material used during a restoration. Initially the lights were UV, but quickly moved into visible light for safety and quality reasons. The most widely used curing lights today are halogen and LED. The materials being produced have kept pace with curing lights, offering faster cure times and better penetration. Curing lights are now offered in a variety of form factors, including cordless. They also offer programming options to make it simple to cure and dental restoration. The lightning technology has changed, but the concept of light penetrating the dental composite material has remained.
