Dentalcompare Blog: Oral-B’s New Deep Sweep Brush Head — What's Not to Like?

While digital dentistry seemed to be a huge part of the recent ADA convention, Oral-B reminded us that sometimes the simplest of devices are still important in dentistry.

They just released a new brush head design, expanding beyond the normal round oscillating head they have had for years. The new design is called Deep Sweep, and it has a segmented set of bristles that sweep back and forth.

There are a few things that make this latest product release from Oral-B compelling.

  1. They are working on educating dentists first instead of going directly to the consumer. If I understand a product or technology better, I am definitely more likely to recommend it to my patients as an addition to their regular home care.
  2. They did their homework. The Deep Sweep has several research articles behind it prove its efficacy. This isn't, "We are the best brush out there" marketing. They’re making an evidence-based recommendation to clinicians with the hope that we will share that message.
  3. It's backwards compatible. These days, it seems like every new product upgrade requires spending more time, energy, and money to use because there’s a new connection, new software or a new adapter required.

The Deep Sweep works with any existing Oral-B motor. Plus, it allows different family members to choose the brush head they like best.

You can check out the rest of the product specs as well as links to the research here.
