Maybe it’s because Halloween is coming up. Maybe it’s because I am still daily impressed by Cone Beam technology. Regardless of the reason, I took a scan of my hand in our Galileos Cone Beam CT.

The panoramic reconstruction definitely looks like it could be the next main character in the Prometheus sequel. Looking at the final rendered image, it really highlights the detail and resolution available to you.

Cone Beam scan of a hand

I have written several times in the past about how cone beam technology allows you to do more, and to see more. This quick little scan of my hand, however, hints at something much more profound. What is comes down to is that this stuff is not only interesting, but fun.

I talk to dentists all the time who are stuck in their “numb, prep, fill” routine. They look at their days as a grind, rather than an opportunity. It’s not from a lack of concern for their patients, but from a boredom of doing the same thing day after day.

The technology in our office has not only impressed patients, but rejuvenated our interest in dentistry. We are enjoying our days, and Monday morning brings anything but a “case of the Mondays”.
