Cave PaintingI think one of my favorite apps on the iPad is TED Conferences. Short for Technology, Entertainment, Design, the conference series has an international array of researchers, authors, chefs, and more, all talking about the latest innovations in their respective industries. You can always check out episodes on TED.com, but you will definitely be inspired by what you hear.

One talk that hit closer to home as a dentist was delivered by Christina Warinner. A researcher at the University of Zurich, she presented her studies on the history of human disease. One of their latest test subjects? Ancient people who walked the earth 10,000 years ago, and the plaque that accumulated on their teeth. According to the TED bio, “she investigates how and why lactase persistence, alcohol intolerance, and HIV-resistance have evolved in different populations around the world.”

The subject matter is enlightening, and she is a great speaker. Best quote of the talk: “On behalf of future archeologists, I would like to ask you to please think twice before you go home and brush your teeth.”
