Salivary Diagnostic Tests

Salivary diagnostic tests are used to determine the specific makeup of a patient's biofilm. These tests involve capturing a sample of the patient's saliva which is then sent to a lab for analysis. Different tests are used to test for different types of pathogens in order to help diagnose specific conditions or determine a patient's risk factors for those conditions. Salivary tests can help determine risks for periodontic issues, systemic diseases and a range of other conditions. They can be used to fine tune periodontal and other treatments, or to help determine which of your patients are at the highest risk for future health issues. Adding a battery of salivary diagnostic services to your practice can be a great way to set your practice apart from the competition.
